Band
Bio
Altered States of Funk are the Northwest's premier original
funk band. Original compositions, tight arrangements, and filthy funk
are the center of this 8 piece funk mob. They have brought their unique
brand of the groove to sold out audiences for over two years now. The
base of their musical gumbo is pure FUNK, with flavors of soul, jazz,
and hiphop. In 2006 Altered States of Funk was voted Seattle Weekly's
#1 Funk/R&B/Soul group. The band continues to tear the roof off of
clubs and festivals throughout the Northwest in a quest to continue the
legacy of the funk.
Altered States of Funk has performed at Chop Suey, The
Tractor Tavern, Nectar Lounge, The Triple Door, EMP, the 200,000 person
Bumbershoot festival, and many other major clubs and festivals throughout
the greater Seattle area. Band members draw their influences from funk
heavyweights such as Sly & The Family Stone, Prince, The Meters, Ohio
Players, Zapp, Tower of Power, and Parliament Funkadelic. In fact, three
members of the band were called upon to board the Mothership and accompany
George "Dr. Funkenstein" Clinton and the 420 Funk Mob in November
2006 when they performed in Tacoma, Washington.
